Dear Parents,

I’m sure you, like all of us, thought we would see some signs of SPRING by now…andwe may have to settle for just a graphic on a calendar or letter! It seems to have been a long winter, and it might not be over yet!  I know we are all waiting to see the crocus and daffodils popping  their heads through the cold ground!

Hopefully your  families have begun to prepare spiritually during these Lenten days for the greatest celebration the Church offers us – Easter Sunday! We are asked to do three things during Lent: pray, fast, and give alms.

Prayer can take many forms…perhaps attending Mass one day a week extra or saying even a decade of the rosary together as a family.  Remembering to say grace before and after meals is something we often forget because we are so busy.  Take advantage of the opportunity for confession any Wednesday night during Lent!

Fasting doesn’t always mean going hungry…it can be giving up dessert once a week, or how about a favorite TV show – read or play a game together instead. We can replace the “giving up” with “doing something” for someone else.

We can “give alms” to those less fortunate in many ways – using the Rice Bowls to collect what would have been spent on those weekly desserts or perhaps taking the time to clean out closets and drawers for outgrown or little used clothing that can be given to the less fortunate.

Because of the recent snow we have to make some adjustments to our calendar.  The following days that were “no school days” for students will now be school days:
March 19th, May 28th and June 4th.  An adjusted calendar is on the back of this letter.

As always, we are grateful to you for the many ways you support us! Know that you always share in our prayers each day! May God continue to bless you and your families on this Lenten journey!

God bless you.
